the retreat:
Join Morgan O’Hare and the Present Practice Yoga community for an unforgettable 6-day Women’s Yoga Retreat in beautiful Italy. This transformative retreat is open to all levels of practice. We will explore the best of Italy: from Florence to Cinque Terre on the west coast, staying in the Tuscany region in between. The intention of this special retreat is to nourish from the inside out. Gift yourself the time and space to disconnect from your busy life so you can reconnect with yourself and your life like never before. Plus, you’ll have our incredible community to support and expand your experience. It’s the best of all the worlds and truly the perfect Italian itinerary for a group of women to enjoy Italy’s culture, scenery, wine, food, and coast.
Morgan will be joined by Natalie Lum-Tai of Revelation Travel, who is the most organized and impressive travel planner around. Natalie will ensure our logistics run smoothly and that we get the most out of our 6 days here. Plus, she can help guests with travel plans before and after the retreat.
tuscany, italy
There’s no place quite like Italy! We will be staying at Ebbio Estate. Ebbio is a restored 13th century farm beautifully transformed in a tranquil spot for retreats in the heart of Tuscany. Nestled inside an evergreen forest, it sits on an extinct volcano that was sacred to the Etruscans, and overlooks the medieval walled town of Monteriggioni, where we will walk to!
Ebbio is an hour drive from Florence and less than 10 miles away from Sienna, and we will explore both incredible Tuscan cities! This retreat will be the perfect balance of connecting with nature under the beautiful Tuscan Sun, connecting with yourself and relaxing, connecting with a supportive community of women, explore Italy ’s food and wine, and immersing yourself in the culture of Italy while exploring several different parts of Italy (Florence, Sienna, Tuscan villages, and Cinque Terre!).
Much of Ebbio life is spent outdoors (and June is the best sunny but not-too-hot weather!) often at the large communal tables under the shade of the pergolas, where we will eat the meals prepared in their professional kitchen using their own produce. For a moment to yourself, there are plenty of chairs in the sun and hammocks in the shade, ideal for sunbathing, reading or star-gazing. The south-exposed patio is well suited for sunrise and sunset sessions and will be where we celebrate the close of our retreat with live music and a bonfire ceremony the last night.
yoga & programming
The intention of this retreat is to truly nourish your mind, body, and soul. With her undergrad and masters in nutritional sciences, Morgan has always been passionate about nutrition and wellbeing. However, her 9 years of teaching yoga and 12 years of practicing has shown her that true nourishment is not just physical — it requires us to nourish our minds in inner silence and compassionate contemplation and our souls or hearts by connecting in community, experiencing the magic life offers, and living fully. Our custom retreat journal and programming will be centered around nourishing all layers of ourselves. Morning yoga and mediation practices will close with journaling and the opportunity to share in group discussions that are always so powerful. Our hope is this discussion carries throughout the day and that you walk away from this retreat having created authentic and supportive friendships.
Each morning, we will have a yoga practice in the yoga room at Ebbio, followed by breakfast. Not only does our retreat center grow all of its own produce (some of which we will forage in wicker baskets before our cooking class) and make its own wine, but it has a fully equipped yoga space with a large patio overlooking the hills. Ebbio is a short distance from a natural springs river that we will visit and enjoy an Italian picnic at.
What we will eat
We will do so much good for our minds and bodies -- morning yoga, meditation, spring river swims, picnics, fresh air, community, vegetarian meals all grown on the farm, organic wines, cultural immersion, authentic Italian meals out in the cities, and more. One day will be dedicated to exploring nourishment as it relates to nutrition (although, every day we will eat such nutritious and delicious food). We will forage for in-season produce, enjoy a picnic lunch at the nearby spring river, return to the villa to partake in a cooking class at the villa before gathering for dinner to enjoy what we foraged, cooked, and then get to eat! Ebbio grows all of their own food, and even makes their own wine!
We will have most of our meals at Ebbio and they will be vegetarian, but filling and delicious (they use dairy and eggs but can accommodate dietary restrictions too!). We will also enjoy several meals out starting with a welcome lunch in Florence, small bites and wine in Sienna, Tuscan countryside sunset dinner, lunch in Cinque Terre, dinner in Lucca, and a wine tour and tasting with light food pairings. It will all be incredible, and you can order meat or whatever you’re craving when we eat out (this is included in the retreat!).
WhAT We will do
Our mornings will generally start with coffee and fruit for those up, then a yoga practice and morning session After yoga, we will have breakfast and get ready for the day. Each day has different activities, and some of the lunches and dinners are out.
Here are some of the fun activities we will do!
Lunch in Florence
Wine tour and tastings
Tuscany countryside sunset dinner
Picnic and swim at natural spring river and on the grounds of Ebbio
Italian cooking class
Foraging for in-season produce
Sienna walking tour
Cinque Terre day trip with time to explore, shop, and relax on the beach
Dinner in Lucca or nearby town
Short hike to Montereggioni to explore before our winery tour
Live music by local band and bonfire
Where we will stay
Ebbio truly is a hidden gem in the heart of Tuscany! We will take advantage of all the estate has to offer. Our morning yoga practices and reflection sessions (with our curated retreat journals) will prime us to be fully present and take in the magic that is Italy! Plus, all of the challenging logistics of seeing Tuscany in an authentic way will be handled for you.
There are 9 bedrooms (each can have 2 single beds) at Ebbio that cluster around a spacious communal area containing a traditional fireplace. Plus, there is a wood fired pizza oven and a massage room! There are 5 bathrooms, which is a lot for historic Italy — we will be all women and get ready (mostly) together.
